Your own Source of Power

If you have purchased and sold a number of homes in your lifetime, you are aware that some realtors operate with a strong sense of integrity and others do not. One of the facts that you must face: realtors want to make money. Hence, they will push you to the high end. If you do not want to be at the mercy of the realtor, stop thinking of them as the experts and become one yourself. This means that you cannot afford to be lazy. You have to get up in the morning, work, remain clear in the head, get your exercise, eat right — and study the market.
Being your own source of power means practicing that form of thinking across the board, from the way you dress and present yourself to the public, to the way you invest or choose not to invest. You decide by knowing the options. When you decide to replace your wardrobe, you go to a dozen stores, choose what color best suits you, decide the prices you are willing to spend, and choose styles set you off in the public eye. It is all about success and your own personal comfort. If this is the case when you buy clothing, it should be triply so when buying your home.
It may be passé in today's market to continue buying "up." That doesn't always fit the needs of a more mobile society. You may not even need to buy at all. Economic upheavals are changing the investment landscape radically. You need to look past the old rules and define your own. Maybe you really do need New York luxury condos to fit your style of living. Maybe you need a cabin on the Oregon Coast. Your life. Your direction. Your decision. Take your power back again and create your own life.
